Important Board of Supervisors Hearing

Important Board of Supervisors Hearing
June 18th, 2019 at 9am

We need your voice to be heard at the San Luis Obispo Board of Supervisors meeting June 18th.

This is an important hearing that will be discussing a possible URGENCY ORDINANCE FOR HEMP CULTIVATION that we need to voice our opinions about.

During a Board of Supervisors meeting, Supervisor Peschong made a motion to agendize an Urgency Ordinance for Hemp as it relates to setbacks. Supervisor Hill seconded the motion. Supervisor Arnold indicated she wants it to go further than setbacks – We suspect she will advocate for a complete ban. The motion to discuss a Hemp Urgency Ordinance passed 4-0, Supervisor Compton was absent from the meeting

A hearing date is set for June 18th

An Urgency Ordinance requires fourth-fifths vote to pass. It goes into effect immediately. It is in effect for 45 days after which it may be extended by a four-fifths vote for a period not exceeding 22 months and 15 days (2 years total)

A specific finding is required to adopt an Urgency Ordinance. The Board will have to find that there is a current and immediate threat to the public health, safety, and welfare from unregulated hemp production in SLO County.
